Veteran Sri Lankan actress passes away

Sri Lanka’s veteran film actress Malini Fonseka, 78, who had become a household name in the country, passed away , the Daily Mirror newspaper reports on its online edition.

She died while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Sri Lanka.

Malini acted in movies such as Eya Den Loku Lamayek, Apeksha, Thushara, Selvem, and Uppalawanna. She also starred in the Tamil movie Pilot Premnath along with famous South Indian actor Sivaji Ganesan.

Malini also acted in a few teledramas, including Nirupamala, which was telecast in the 1980s.

She had a short stint in politics and was an MP from 2010 to 2015 .
